What are Goji Berries?

Goji berries are a sweet, red fruit grown in China that tastes like a cross between a cherry and cranberry. They have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. 

Goji berries are delicious and can be eaten in all phases of the Dukan Diet as a tolerated food.

 

Benefits of Goji Berries

Goji berries are full of amino acids and essential minerals and are a nutrient dense superfood. Like many berries, goji contain powerful antioxidants.

 

Why Are Goji Berries Dried?

Goji berries are quite delicate compared with other berries. They turn dark and lose some of their potency when touched by the oils in human hands. During harvest, goji berry bushes are shaken so the berries land on a tarp. If they must be touched, they are handled by gloves.

Moist goji berries cannot sit in warehouses for very long because the moisture attracts bacteria and mold. Drying them preserves them naturally without any additives.  

 

How to Eat Goji Berries

Dukan Diet Goji Berries can be mixed into oat bran hot cereal, yogurt or a salad. You can bake them into muffins, cookies or your oat bran pancake!  Or just eat goji berries by the handful as a snack!
